Weekend Edition

Bridge over the Thames in London Ontario

River Forks Park, London Ontario

The final long weekend of the summer is so bitter sweet. I adore these extended weekends spent with family and friends, or on a little getaway. But this unofficial end of summer, which already feels short in Canada, brings so much change. The weather begins it’s descent into the single digits. The leaves start changing colour. Everyone gets back into their official routines of school or work, or both. No more careless joie de vivre of “what shall we do today”. If you still have some vacation left – celebrate! If not, I suggest these links to help prolong that summer feeling…until next year!

  • Brooke Saward created her own dream job by starting an exquisite travel blog which has allowed her to visit many beautiful places around the world, mostly on her own. Escape reality with her 12 most scenic countries.
  • If I could run away to England, I would head for the cottage of Louise from Cygnet Kitchen and hope she’d invite me to stay for tea and these delicious scones.
  • Grand Budapest Hotel” was definitely the escapist film of the summer. Amazing visuals and an intriguing plot made me want to travel back in time.
